London Fashion Week blew by quickly, di’nnit, luvs?  Aside from visitor Marc Jacobs’ undoubtedly exciting Marc show that closes the week, other highlights and hot tickets were the British Design trifecta of Christopher Kane, Giles (Deacon), and Gareth Pugh.  These boys are the new guard and are finally putting London back on the fashion map!

-Christopher Kane’s second collection proved that this young designer is not just a flash in the pan.  The boy ROCKS!  He showed 39 looks in intricately folded and pleated leather and velvets.  The shapes and designs of his many minidresses were daring and fun.  All the coolest PYTs will no doubt be sporting his frocks to all the big soirees.  According to Style.com’s Sarah Mower, twenty-two of the super-short and super-skinny neon dresses from his first collection flew out of Browns in two days!  Kane is like a hard, stingy bitch-slap in the face of fashion. I take copies of Vogue and InStyle with me and we flick through the magazines together and discuss my latest purchases. She’s particularly pleased that I love vintage clothes so much, as it reminds her of being a 21-year-old running around London and surviving on bread and butter so she could afford Italian leather shoes and matching bags. Kurt Geiger wedgesMy friend Tess has snaffled a pair of Kurt Geiger new-season wedges.

They are just fabulous, and she says it’s completely worth attracting slightly bemused stares, because of the clomping sound the wooden heel makes, to be made several inches taller by these babies.

I’m all for the height benefits of wedges and platforms. Today, I’ve been striding around in my five-inch red platform courts feeling very long-legged indeed. Of course, once they’re taken off it’s back to being miniature me again.
